The beautiful thing about original artwork is the uniqueness and creativity that each individual piece holds.

Hello, I'm Sarah Kelly.  Portrait artist, photographer, southpaw, coffee lover. Seeker of spiritual truths, observer, dreamer. A dreamer that draws realism...ha! Drawing has always come as a natural ability for me. Desire to learn the art of realistic drawing took hold while taking fine arts at Sheridan College in Oakville, ON.  A realistic drawing of water ripples in a textbook - a defining, and inspiring moment.

Since then, many hours of observation and practice led me to develop and continue creating in the art of realistic drawing. It seems that going back to what always came naturally to me was the best path for me to follow as an artist. I love creating art that helps others share what means most.

Since 2005 I have been creating custom portraits for individuals, businesses and associations, families, newlywed couples, husbands, wives and loving pet owners. I feel so blessed to have this gift to share with the world.

Each portrait is drawn with much love. It is with loving intention to use my creative gifts to offer you hand drawn portraits and artwork that inspire you, connect you, and fuel your passions for the things in life that feed your heart and soul.

A little bit of your heart and soul go into each portrait. A whole lot of passion, creativity and love go into each one.

Pencil Portraits start with your most memorable and favorite photos.

Portraits can be drawn with as much detail as you like and can be created from one or a few reference photos as needed. The best reference photos are ones that clearly show the subject of your portrait with as many details as possible. High resolution images are best for me to work from.

The clearer your photo is, the better a completed portrait will look. If reference photos are not clearly in focus I cannot see (and draw) what you already know.

A good reference photo will make the difference between a good portrait, and a GREAT portrait.

Close ups are good!

Photo quality is important for drawing in details. A larger sized reference photo with good detail is much easier for me to use to create your portrait. It's important that details like eyes remain clear in a reference photo when zooming in on a computer, tablet or phone screen. (For portrait requests using older photo/s, it is possible to work with you to create a memorable portrait.)

I can help you with photo creation. I'm also a portrait photographer. Schedule a photo session with me to have some new updated photos of your favorite people, pets or prized possessions, to be used as a reference photo for a pencil portrait, or just because.

Fine Art paper prints:

Prints of your original portrait can easily be created for you. Choose from traditional fine art papers, or eco friendly fine art papers.

Canvas Wraps:

Some portraits make excellent recreation prints when printed on canvas. The image is printed into fine art canvas, then wrapped around a wood frame that is ready to hang and display. They can be additionally framed for a stunning impression.

Acrylic Prints:

Depending on the subject matter of your portrait, acrylic prints can add an impressive punch to display as a recreation print. The digital image of your portrait is printed onto a thick piece of clear acrylic and then mounted on the back so they are ready to hang and display in your home or office.

Custom Cards:

If you need thank you cards for a special occasion or want to share the image of your portrait as a card with a personal hand written note inside, a custom set can be created especially for you.

Send me your portrait idea and favorite photo/s to portraitsbysarah@hotmail.com for your initial inquiry. I'll offer you advice and guide you through the process to have your portrait created.
